FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the candles luxury?

  • We live sustainability and eco-friendly, from our special blend wax to our packaging almost every part is either reusable, recyclable or compostable.
  • All components are made from natural ingredients and contain no harmful chemicals. Candles and wicks are not edible. Please do not attempt to eat or put into your mouth any part of the candle.
  • Our candle containers are actually premium drinking glasses. They are part of the Bodega collection by Bormioli Rocco, a leading Italian glassware manufacturer since 1925. They are made in Spain and are imported from France.
  • The wax we use is a Paraffin / Coconut wax blend which has a smooth and creamy aesthetic and a clean burn (no smoke!). This wax has a low melting point compared to other waxes which means slow burning, meaning our candles will burn up to 20% longer than other waxes. This blend has been specifically developed to accommodate up to 12% fragrance, 4-6% more than other waxes, meaning it has excellent fragrance retention and release.
  • We use the more expensive wooden wicks that typically burn at a lower temperature which diffuses heat more rapidly into the wax warming the wax and releasing the aroma evenly. In fact, wooden wicks can push up to 35% more fragrance throw into a room, compared to cotton wicks. In addition wooden wicks "talk" and giving it character.
  • Our Meditation candles have 4grams of genuine gemstones chips, grade B or higher. Gemstones are cleaned, both physically and energetically, upon arrival to our facility. Gemstones are then charged during the next full moon, outdoors and in direct moon light. Each full moon, our gemologist recharges any gemstones that have a noticeable decrease in charge. Cleaned and charged gemstones are stored, but not in direct contact, with charged Carnelian Stones.

These are supposed to be smoke-free candles. Why is my candle wick smoking (or why is the glass covered with black soot)?

If the wick is too high above the wax surface, it will smoke. To prevent smoking, before lighting the candle pinch the wick and pull away the burnt (charred) wick. This "dead" part of the wick can no longer burn and will produce smoke. Do this each time you light the wick (of course, never attempt this if the flame was just extinguished. In that case allow 4-5 minutes for the wick to sufficiently cool and the burnt wick to harden before attempting to remove it.)

What sizes are the glasses?

  • Small candle - Bodega mini 7.5oz 20cl glass and measures 2.3 inches tall and 3.2 inches wide
  • Medium candle - Bodega medium 12oz 35.5cl glass and measures 3.5 inches tall and 3.3 inches wide
  • Large candle - Bodega maxi 17.5oz 50cl glass and measures 4.8 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide

How do I clean the glass to use for drinking?

Let the candle burn all the way down until it can not be lit. This will help dislodge the wick holder from the bottom of the glass. Don't worry, the heat won't hurt the glass. Place the glass in an inch of extremely hot water, enough to submerge the entire bottom but not enough to make the glass float. Leave for 3-4 minutes. Remove the glass from the water and using paper towel, wipe the gemstones from the glass being careful to retain them. Continue wiping wax residue from the glass interior. Repeat until no more residue can be removed. Do NOT recycle or compost paper towel with wax on it. Wax is a flammable material, so sadly it must be put in the garbage.

Pull or push the wick holder out of place, remove and recycle. This may require some effort and if necessary a dinner utensil can be used to assist in dislodging it. Be very careful not to use the glass edge to leverage the utensil as it might cause the glass to break. Once the wick holder and wax have been removed, the glass should be hand-washed using mild soap and hot water. Rinse well. The glasses are dishwasher safe and after the initial cleaning, can be regularly placed in the dishwasher.  If water marks appear on glassware, a water and vinegar steam cleaning will take them off effortlessly.

My candle is finished. What should I do with the gemstones?

You can reuse them!! Follow the instructions above for cleaning the glass in order to removed the stones from the glass. The fastest and easiest way to remove the wax from the gemstones is to apply low heat such as the low seating on a hair dryer and wipe with clean paper towel. If a hot blower is not available then warm water can be used. WARNING: Some gemstones can not tolerate water and should not be immersed in water! Please refer to our Guide to Gemstones to learn more about your specific gemstone. Gemstones that do not tolerate water should be placed into a small sealable plastic bag which can be submerged in hot water. Remove the bag from the water, open and wipe gemstones with paper towel. Do not use any soap or detergent on gemstones regardless of how gentle it is.

Gemstones can then be recharged and reapplied to a new candle. Please refer to our pdf Guide to Gemstones for charging instructions.

I have gemstones from a previous candle that I want to reuse and I love the scent of that candle. Can I purchase the same candle but without gemstones in order to save money?

Absolutely, yes!! Each manifestation candle has a sister ambiance candle, same everything just no gemstones. We have too many to list here but the companion candle name is included in each manifestation candle's information.

Is meditation done with candles, gemstones or candles with gemstones any different from meditation without them? And if yes, then how?

Yes, in fact it is. Using candles, gemstones or both amplifies and intensifies energy and results in an enhanced meditation. The fragrance of a candle changes the ambiance of a room which aids in improving meditation. However to obtain the greatest benefits of using candles and gemstones, proper techniques should be used. To learn these techniques, refer to our videos or pdf's: Introduction to MeditationMeditating with Candles; Meditating with Gemstones; Meditating with Gemmed Candles.

Can the candles be customized or personalized?

Individually, no. A minimum order 30 candles of identical design, of any size, is required for customization or personalization. Please use our contact form to share your idea, the estimated quantity, the date they are needed and the best way to reach you. We will contact you for further discussion.

Can candles be used in a home with children and pets?

All candles, whether lighted or not lighted, should be kept out of reach of pets and young children. Although our candles contain no harmful chemicals, the wax and wick should not be consumed. Pets and children might be attracted by the scent or the texture of the wax.

Can I use my candle outdoors?

We recommend our candles be used only indoors. The chances for mishaps is greater outdoors with flammable objects being blown near to the flame or for injury from broken glass should the candle fall onto a hard surface. In addition the container does not have a curve that would divert breeze or wind away from the wick and flame so there is a higher probability of splashing wax or the flame being extinguished than exists with candles specifically designed to be used outdoors.

How do I store my candle?

To best preserve the fragrance and to avoid misshapen wax and dislodged gemstones, store the candle upright in the tube in which the candle was packaged.

It looks like there are air bubbles or that the wax has pulled away from the glass. Why?

While our wax blend has many advantages over other waxes, it is more susceptible to heat due to its low melting point. And because the glass and wax heat and cool at different rates, this separation between the glass and wax occurs. In fact, it can not be prevented. It has NO effect on the performance or fragrance of the candle. This separation between container and wax is not uncommon which is why many manufacturers chose to use opaque containers.
